Phil Pierce – Athletic Director
Dominion Academy offers competitive boys’ and girls’ interscholastic basketball for junior high and high school students. Our program is open to all 6th thru 12th grade students that wish to participate in athletics in a Christ-centered environment. We welcome homeschool students. We compete against Christian schools, private schools, public schools and homeschool teams in the area.
Our junior high team is focused on learning the game, establishing a love for the game and building a daily routine of stretching and running. The junior varsity team is focused on team skills and improving each athlete’s strength, speed and basketball abilities. The objective for each varsity athlete is to approach and exceed our speed, strength and basketball benchmarks, improve leadership skills, master time management skills and compete with the intensity and grace modeled by Christ. In 2017, both the Dominion Academy Varsity Men and Women placed second in the OVCC post season tournament. The Varsity Women placed third in the state wide OCSAA tournament winning bronze medals in 2017.
Formal practices begin in late fall. This timeis used to build teamwork, increase endurance and learn the game of basketball. Our game schedule begins in November. We use competition against other teams to refine our skills and to measure our progress as student athletes.
We wrap up the season with an awards banquet in March.
