2017 Dominion Academy Science Fair
Dominion Academy is happy to announce the 2017 winners of The Glowing Pickle Award and The People’s Choice Award from our recent Science Fair. Grace George with her project, “Enabling Potassium Chlorate to Give Off the Greatest Reaction” received the Glowing Pickle award, and Eli Crosley’s project, “The Best Materials for Sound Absorption,” was chosen as the People’s Choice.
Lisa Crosley and Jessica Arney, representatives of EnviroControl Systems, Inc,, awarded three students for their projects relating to heat. Jack McGrath, James Roberts, and Seth Brembeck each received cash awards. These students and 40 others were judged by faithful, returning judges along with a few new judges such as Dominion Academy graduates Emma Sum and Emma Veley. We also appreciate the participation of
Dr. William Jones and his science education students from Cedarville University for their expert advice on student projects. All were recognized at a short ceremony in
the sanctuary, and the fair was happily brought to a close before 8:00pm.
Qualified students will progress to the Montgomery County Science Day on March 4, 2017. Our participation in science fairs under the auspices of The Ohio Academy of Science gives students the opportunity to develop research skills while gaining confidence in written and verbal communication skills.
